Mystery Meal

We pulled out of Caribbean Jack’s Marina hoping to get back outside and let Prime Time put in some serious miles. Again, weather kept us on the ICW. Today was a real dolphin day! We had pods of dolphins traveling with us all day as we passed Port Orange, Ponce de Leon Inlet, and New Smyrna Beach.

The Mosquito Lagoon crossing was relatively uneventful. It’s a fairly wide body of water with a well-marked but narrow channel. We did have Independence…a 65’ Burger yacht that had been docked at the Atlantic Yacht Basin…come up on us pretty fast.  We chatted briefly on the VHF, and they continued on at least twice our 8+ knots.

Exiting the Mosquito Lagoon, we made a 90° turn to starboard and entered the Haulover Canal. This is a very narrow tree-lined passage and it was interesting. I took a photo of a Snowy Egret, Manatee, and an alligator all in the same frame. I hope it comes out OK!

We had two bridges to negotiate before we made it to Titusville. The first…Jay-Jay/NASA Railway Bridge is always open. The next one…Titusville/Max E. Brewer Bridge…is a swing bridge that closes daily between 1515 and 1630. We were really sweating out making the opening, but Prime Time got us there in time.

We traveled on until 2000. At Mile Marker 920, we anchored in a nice spot for the night. While Mark and I set the hook and straightened up the boat, Jason prepared us a Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper dinner.  Yes, all of you gourmands out there…I said the double H word! I can’t even remember that last time I had H². I even thought that the FDA…or some other regulatory agency…had determined H² to be a known carcinogen in laboratory animals. Anneke would have cried if she could have seen the nutritional content label on the box. Well guess what…that was the FINEST meal I’ve had in a while! Jason ROCKS in the galley.
