Coinjock Revisited...

Friday September 16

Prime Time pulled away from the front wall at the Atlantic Yacht Basin around 1000 headed once again for Texas.  Mark Mitchell, Jason Henry, and I comprised Team Prime Time. Jason is a 25-year old young man working with Mark to get his Captain’s license. Anneke had flown back to Cleveland yesterday. We had started hearing about Hurricane Rita, and I didn’t want her exposed to any potential risks.

This time we had another boat…Ribbit…following us. Ribbit is a 50’ Gibson House Boat owned by Wayne and Chris Sargent. They had just purchased their boat, and were headed for their marina in Lake Monroe, FL. Wayne and Chris, while not new boaters, have no cruising experience. They had arranged to have another couple aboard for their delivery, but Hurricane Ophelia had worried them so much that they had flown back to Florida earlier in the week.  Mark was concerned about the Sargents', and asked if they would like to trail us down to Beaufort, NC. Prime Time would try and get offshore there, and Ribbit could continue on down the ICW. They jumped at the opportunity…smart decision!

Prime Time made the 40+ miles back down to Coinjock with no problems. Again, we tied up at the Midway Marina and Motel. It was like (thanks Yogi) “déjà vu…all over again”! It was still pretty breezy, and Ribbit had some difficulty getting docked. All of the mega-yachts we saw last weekend were still docked across the way at the Coinjock Marina.

Thelma, Cheyenne, and Sugar Boy drove down from the Atlantic Yacht Basin to have dinner with us at Crabbie’s. While it took us 5-6 hours to get Prime Time here, they were able to drive to Coinjock in 45 minutes! After we all had a big meal, Mark and Cheyenne went swimming and played with Sugar Boy! The Mitchell family doesn’t get to spend a lot of time together, so this was perfect…
